(Elizabeth, Pa) Monica Douglas, candidate for State House in the 39th District, today announced her support for House Bill 55, a bill introduced by Representative Mark Mustio. Representative Mustio’s bill reduces the size and spending of the Pennsylvania General Assembly. Today the PA House State Government Committee will hear testimony regarding House Bill 55.

“Residents of Pennsylvania are tired of the status quo and business as usual politics in Harrisburg. The time has come for Pennsylvania legislators to act on meaningful legislative reform. House Bill 55 is a good start. It is a sensible measure that incorporates modest downsizing provisions, as well as a much needed 20% cost cut in both houses of the Pennsylvania legislature,” Douglas commented.

The Pennsylvania legislature is one of the largest and most costly in the nation. “My opponent, Dave Levdansky, has remained silent on this important issue of reform in Harrisburg,” she said. “Representative Levdansky campaigns every election cycle using the motto “Best Record of Reform”. Actions speak louder than words and It’s time for Levdansky to act.” urged Douglas.
Douglas challenged, “Today I call upon Dave Levdansky to support House Bill 55. It is time for this issue to be brought before the full legislature for a vote. We can’t afford for this bill to languish in committee any longer.”
